Cobourg Police – Female Arrested As A Result of Traffic Stop

On Saturday October 26th, 2019 uniform members of the Cobourg Police Service were on general patrol and stopped a motor vehicle in the north east area of the Town of Cobourg.

As a result of the investigation, the driver 29-year-old Kaitlyn GRUMETH from Brighton, Ontario was arrested and found to be in possession of a small quantity of suspected cocaine and charged with the following offences:

1. Use Plates Not Authorized for Motor Vehicle – Contrary to Section 12(1)(d) of the Highway Traffic Act

2. Drive Motor Vehicle – No Validation on Plate – Contrary to Section 7(1)(c)(i) of the Highway Traffic Act

3. Fail to Surrender Permit for Motor Vehicle – Contrary to Section 7(5)(a) of the Highway Traffic Act

4. Fail to Surrender Insurance Card – Contrary to Section 3(1) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

5. Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor – Contrary to Section of 32(1) the Liquor License Act

6. Possession of a Controlled Substance – Cocaine – Contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

The motor vehicle was impounded and towed to a local impound lot.

GRUMETH was released from custody on an appearance notice (charge 6) and summons to a defendant X 5 (charges 1-5) with a future court date.
