(HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – On Sunday September 29, 2019 at approximately 1:15 am members of the Northumberland detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews responded to a home on Dale Road near Ontario Street in Hamilton Township after receiving a report of a vehicle that had driven into the attached garage of the residence.
Officers arrived on scene and found that a black 2019 Range Rover SUV had driven through the garage door colliding with a car that was parked within it. The collision caused structural dam age to the home and damage to the parked vehicle.
The driver of the SUV was taken to a local area hospital then released.
As a result of the investigation Chase DOBSON (age 31) of Port Hope, Ontario was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Dangerous operation
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The vehicle was towed and impounded and the driver received an immediate 90 day drivers licence suspension.
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on October 23, 2019.
No one was seriously hurt after a spectacular collision early Sunday, September 29, 2019 in Hamilton Township.
Northumberland OPP say a vehicle (Range Rover) was traveling northbound on Ontario Street when it apparently failed to stop at the intersection of Dale Road.
The vehicle continued northbound on a residential property, up a driveway between two houses and slammed into a parked vehicle, pushing it through the back of the garage.
Part of the garage collapsed from the collision.
Hamilton Township Fire Chief Kelly Serson said there were a number of concerns at the scene including the safety of the firefighters as the building was unstable and could collapse.
“We also have to ensure there were no other patients and then secure the vehicles.
Firefighters also had to use extreme caution because of the electricity in the garage.
The scene was secured on Sunday and fire crews went back Sunday morning to work on shoring up the garage and removing the vehicles.
The driver was not seriously injured and there is no word on charges.
