Cobourg Police – Male Arrested for Property Crime Spree

On Wednesday, the 14th day of August, 2019, a male party was captured on video surveillance entering a business located in the downtown core. The male caused damage to several items inside and removed a wooden storage box belonging to the business.

On Tuesday the 17th day of September 2019 the same male entered onto two residential properties centrally located in Cobourg, at night, without having any lawful excuse to be there. The male was captured on video surveillance attempting to enter vehicles located on the properties.

On Sunday, the 22nd day of September, 2019 at approximately 9:18 am, police were dispatched to attend a residence in the east end of Cobourg to respond to a report of an unknown male party sleeping in a motor vehicle belonging to the residence owner. Upon arrival, police located this same male party and subsequently placed him under arrest. Upon arrest, several items were located on the male stolen from unlocked motor vehicle entries throughout the night. Police also located a small quantity of suspected fentanyl.

As a result of the above occurrences, 27 year old Andrew DRYSDALE of no fixed address was arrested and charged with the following offences:

– Mischief Under $5000 contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code x2 – Theft Under $5000 contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code x4 – Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000 contrary to section 355(b) of the Criminal Code x4 – Breach of Probation contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code x7 – Trespass by night contrary to section 177 of the Criminal Code x3 – Breach of Recognizance contrary to section 145(3) of the Criminal Code x4 – Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

DRYSDALE is currently in custody and will be held for a bail hearing on the 22nd of September 2019.
