Durham Police – Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Charges

A 26-year-old Oshawa man is facing charges after he was found driving with an open can of beer and in possession of drugs.
On Tuesday, March 5, 2019, in the area of Taunton Road West and Stevenson Road North in Oshawa, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired license plates. When the officer approached the vehicle, he noticed a strong odor of cannabis. Upon further investigation, an open can of beer was found as well as cannabis and cocaine. The street value of the drugs totaled more than $20,000.
Damien Dionne, age 26 of Paddington Court in Oshawa, is charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine); Possession for the Purpose of Selling (cannabis); Adult Possess Over 30 Grams (cannabis); Possession for the Purpose of Distributing (cannabis); Drive Motor Vehicle – No License; Drive Motor Vehicle – No Validation or Plate; Fail to Have Insurance Card; Drive Motor Vehicle with Liquor Readily Available; and Drive Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available. He was held for a bail hearing.
