Emergency services personnel remove 4 people from Rice Lake

(OTONABEE SOUTH MONAHGAN TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call from a concerned citizen regarding 3 adults and a child fishing on Rice Lake shortly after 5pm yesterday.

Peterborough OPP attended with other emergency services personnel, Peterborough EMS and the Otonabee South Monaghan Fire Department. Everyone involved was safely removed from the ice surface.

The Peterborough County OPP wish es to remind the public that no ice is 100 percent safe and with warmer temperatures ice surfaces are currently unstable.
