Damage Likely to Exceed One-Million Dollars Following House Fire in Cramahe Township

In Local

Damage is likely to exceed one-million-dollars following a house fire in Cramahe Township on Thursday, April 13, 2023.

At approximately 6:20 p.m. Cramahe Township firefighters were dispatched to a home on Trent Valley Road, east of Colborne.

While responding firefighters were told by dispatch they received several 9-1-1 calls on the fire indicating it was a working fire that appeared to be at the back of the house.

Brighton Fire Department was also dispatched for manpower and tanker support.

When fire crews arrived on scene, the rear of the home was engulfed in flames and quickly extended into the roof of the two-storey home.

Firefighters worked into the darkness extinguishing hot spots, but it’s expected the damage to the home will reach at least one-million dollars.

Occupants of the home safely evacuated and there were no injuries.

The exact cause has yet to be determined.
