Cobourg Launches Survey to Assess Need for Additional Outdoor Pickleball Courts

In Community, Local, Sports

The sport of pickleball was developed in 1965 and its popularity has grown immensely in the Town of Cobourg over the last 10 years. Daily pickleball court times started at the Cobourg Community Centre, but the demand for additional space and opportunity to play, lead to the development of outdoor courts in Town of Cobourg parks in 2015.

Currently, the Town of Cobourg has six individual, public, outdoor pickleball courts, located at Sinclair Park and Peter Delanty Park. Each facility hosts three individual courts. These courts serve dual purpose as tennis courts and pickleball courts with line paintings for both sports.

Based on the growing popularity of the sport of pickleball, the Town of Cobourg would like to engage residents to assess future needs for additional outdoor pickleball courts.

Public Engagement Objectives:

  • Engage the public to assess the need for additional outdoor pickleball courts
  • Solicit feedback from current users on the location for potential new courts
  • Work with the Cobourg Pickleball Club to develop court requirements to inform budget recommendations for 2023
  • Please participate in the survey below. Available until September 8, 2022

Supporting Documentation:

  • Example of Outdoor Pickleball Courts in North America
Please note, this document includes examples of outdoor pickleball courts from locations in Canada and the United States. These projects range in size and scope and have been submitted by the Cobourg Pickleball Club for consideration only.
