The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal has been called after three suspicious fires overnight on Friday, July 15, 2022 in Cobourg and Hamilton Township.

Hamilton Township firefighters were dispatched to a house that wasn’t occupied on Dale Road just west of Ontario Street at approximately 12:40 a.m.

When fire crews arrived on scene the building was engulfed in flames.

Assistance was requested from Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services along with Alnwick/Haldimand Township.

At 3:48 a.m., Cobourg Fire Department responded to a fully engulfed house on Albert Street between Third Street and Spring Street.

When crews arrived on scene, flames were shooting through the windows and roof of the home that was up for sale.

In both fires, it was a defensive attack because each of the buildings were beyond saving.

While crews were battling the fire on Albert Street, they received another call of a house fire at 664 Ontario Street.

When crews arrived on scene the rear of the residence was on fire.

Crews from Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services along with Alnwick/Haldimand Township were also dispatched to the scene of the fire.

The house on Ontario Street was also up for sale.
