Quinte West OPP – Driver Charged Following Single Vehicle Collision on Highway 401

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver following a report of a single vehicle collision on the 401 Highway.

On November 21, 2021 at approximately 10:55 p.m., Quinte West OPP responded to the westbound 401 between Wallbridge Loyalist Road and Highway 62 following reports of a single vehicle in the ditch. After arriving on scene, officers located the driver who was demonstrating signs of impairment. The accused was arrested for impaired driving and transported to the Quinte West OPP Detachment for testing where blood alcohol levels were determined to be in excess of the legal limit.

Scott TONKS, 32 years old of Keswick has been charged with operation while impaired – alcohol, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and Fail to comply with a probation order.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on December 9, 2021. Their license was suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was impounded for seven (7) days.
