Breaking News – Transport Truck Gets Wedged Under Railway Bridge in Cobourg

A transport driver learned the hard way the height of his trailer is a bit too high for a railway bridge in Cobourg on Sunday, October 24, 2021.

At approximately 7:40 p.m. a tractor trailer was driving southbound on Burnham Street in Cobourg.

As it passed over the CN Rail crossing and proceeded southbound it came to a sudden stop becoming wedged under the CP Rail bridge just north of King Street.

It appears by the debris the driver may have tried to reverse the big rig to free the trailer.

Debris from the roof of the trailer littered the roadway.

The driver was not injured in the collision.

Burnham Street from King Street West to Westwood Drive was closed until the transport can be removed and the bridge checked by CP Rail.

No word on charges.
