E-Bike Rider “Very Lucky” After Colliding With Parked Vehicle in Cobourg

The rider of a e-bike suffered non-life threatening injuries after the e-bike collided with a parked vehicle in Cobourg on Thursday, July 22, 2021.

At approximately 1 p.m. emergency services responded to Ewing Street near Greer Crescent for a collision involving a e-bike and a parked vehicle.

It appears a e-bike was travelling northbound on Ewing Street when it struck a parked vehicle.

The rider was collided with the vehicle breaking the rear-windshield.

Cobourg Police Sgt. Mike Richardson said some manufacturers are producing e-bikes that produce speeds of 35 kph, but it’s unknown the speed at the time of the collision in Cobourg.

Cobourg Police Sgt. Mike Richardson said it doesn’t appear the rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

“It’s very important to wear a helmet. Children up to a certain have to wear it – I still wear one.”

Richardson said the driver was “very lucky” and the investigation is continuing.
