Paramedic Services Week, which takes place this year from May 23 to 29, is an opportunity to recognize the contributions that paramedics make to the health, safety and well-being of residents and visitors in our community. This year’s theme is ‘Paramedic as Educator – Citizen Ready’. In keeping with this theme, throughout the week, Northumberland Paramedics will be sharing important health and safety tips and information on their Facebook page—@NorthumberlandParamedics. Also, to mark this week of celebration, Northumberland Paramedics is today launching a children’s colouring contest.
Children ages 3 to 11 are invited to submit their artistic take on the colouring sheet for their age category, available at Northumberland.ca/Paramedics, by Wednesday, May 26 for the chance to win exciting prizes including toy ambulances, Terry the Trauma-saurus stuffed toys, backpacks, and more! Each participant will be entered into a random draw and three winners will be selected from each of the following age categories:
· Ages 3-5
· Ages 6-8
· Ages 9-11
“Paramedic Services Week is an opportunity to express gratitude to our local paramedics for their tireless efforts at the frontlines of our health care system to keep our loved ones safe and healthy,” states County Warden Bob Crate. “Over the last year, our Northumberland Paramedics have responded to over 20,000 9-1-1 calls, launched a new Community Paramedicine program to deliver preventative health care services, and adjusted their practices to continue meeting the needs of the community during the global pandemic. On behalf of County Council and all Northumberland residents, I want to applaud this team for their invaluable service to our community. I encourage local families to participate in the Paramedic Services Week colouring contest to help spread some colourful joy and positivity to our frontline workers during these challenging times.”
Completed colouring sheets can be photographed or scanned and submitted by email to paramedics@northumberland.ca, or dropped off in the drop box located outside the front entrance of Northumberland County Headquarters at 555 Courthouse Road in Cobourg.

We look forward to seeing the artwork from Northumberland kids come in as part of local celebrations of this important service.”
