Vehicle Ends Up In Ditch After Taking Evasive Action To Avoid Collision in Hamilton Township

Emergency services responded to a collision in Hamilton Township on Wednesday, August 5, 2020.

At approximately 10:20 p.m. emergency services attended the area of County Road 45, just north of Highway 401 at Division Street North.

A pickup truck hauling a motor boat was soundbound on County Road 45 when a northbound vehicle tuned in front of the pickup and stopped.

The driver of the pickup had to take evasive action and steered the pickup and boat/trailer into the west ditch.

The other driver sped away from the scene.

The boat trailer suffered heavy damage, but damaged to the pickup truck which was only two days old was unknown until the tow truck arrived.

The truck when over and removed a manhole cover that was in the ditch.

Two people in the pickup were just heading home from Toronto when the collision occurred.

Northumberland OPP are still looking for the driver of the other motor vehicle.
