Town of Cobourg Marks Pride Month with Flag Raising Ceremony

In Local

The Town of Cobourg kicked off Pride Month on Friday, June 6 with the raising of the Pride flag at Victoria Hall.

Pride Month brings Cobourg together to celebrate the history, courage, and diversity of Cobourg’s Two Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Intersex, Queer, and Questioning communities (2SLGBTQ+).

Members of the community are encouraged to reach out, connect to support each other and celebrate together. The annual flag raising ceremony is an opportunity for the community to show solidarity, promote dialogue, and strengthen our collective commitment to inclusivity.

The Town is committed to addressing the unique challenges facing 2SLGBTQ+ communities to build a more inclusive and equitable Cobourg. The Progressive Pride Flag will be raised at Victoria Hall (corner of King St. and Second St.) and Jubilee Park for the month of June.

All members of the community are welcome to join Mayor Cleveland, members of Council, members of PFLAG Canada – Cobourg Chapter, and Town of Cobourg staff representatives for the flag raising and brief remarks.
