Northumberland OPP – Traffic Stop on Highway 401 Yields 240 Pounds of Pot

On Monday, June 22, 2020 at approximately 4:30 p.m. members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Northumberland Peterborough Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) enlisted the assistance of uniformed members of the Northumberland OPP with respect to an investigation. As a result of the investigation, a motor vehicle was stopped on Highway 401 East bound in the Hamilton Township area and 240 pounds of dried Cannabis were seized.

Marina-Anne PARRIS, age 60, of Ottawa, along with Rebekah FOOTE, age 24, o f Ottawa were arrested and charged with the following offences:

· Possession for the purpose of distributing, Cannabis

· Possess, produce, sell, distribute or import anything with intention to use it to produce, sell, or distribute illicit cannabis

· Possession of over 30g dried cannabis (or equivalent) in public place

· Possession of illicit cannabis

· Possessing cannabis for purpose of selling

Both accused parties were released on an undertaking and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on the 26th of August 2020.
