In My Opinion – It’s Something Everyone Who Lives in Cobourg Should See at Least Once in Their Lifetime

In Editorial

It’s a view more people should have the opportunity to experience.

Looking back at Cobourg from the waters of Lake Ontario is something every resident should see at least once in their lifetime.

For those who own a boat, it’s a familiar sight they can enjoy whenever they wish. But for the majority of residents who don’t have access to the water, seeing their hometown from offshore is a rare experience—one that feels almost like winning the lottery.

From the lake, Cobourg reveals an entirely different side of itself.

The rolling hills of Northumberland County rise gently behind the town, creating a picturesque backdrop. The historic clock tower of Victoria Hall stands proudly above the skyline, instantly recognizable from miles away. The lighthouse marks the entrance to the harbour, while Victoria Beach stretches along the shoreline, alive with visitors enjoying one of Ontario’s most beautiful waterfronts.

From this perspective, familiar landmarks come together to create a scene that is both peaceful and impressive. It’s a reminder of just how fortunate Cobourg is to sit on the shores of Lake Ontario.

Sometimes, it takes seeing your hometown from a different angle to truly appreciate its beauty.

A sincere thank you to Rick Lovekin for the opportunity to experience Cobourg from a perspective that so few residents ever have the chance to enjoy.
