Concerns for CN Train Continue in Cobourg’s West End

In National

Concerns about a CN Rail freight train parked in a residential area in Cobourg area growing.

The train has been parked behind Westwood Plaza since Monday because of the rail lines along the corridor have been shut down due to a protest in Tyendinaga.

The CN Rail including VIA has been silenced along Canada’s busiest rail corridor since a week ago.

The freight train isn’t necessarily the problem, but the two engines constantly running has neighbours fuming.

The rail lines have been shut down since Thursday, February 6, 2020, but the freight train arrived on Monday, February only arrived at its current location since Monday, February 10, 2020.

Sue Dingsdale-Glover has tried unsuccessfully to get questions answered from numerous officials to no avail.

Today’s Northumberland has sent several e-mail messages to CN Rail, but there has been no response.

Cobourg Mayor John Henderson stated in an e-mail, “I have no update on this item at this point, thus no comment.”
