The Toronto Maple Leafs Alumni are coming to play hockey in Cobourg on February 29, 2020 for a fundraiser for local mental health services. The game is being hosted by the Port Hope and Cobourg Police and their associations.

The Toronto Maple Leafs Alumni team will play against a team comprised of Port Hope and Cobourg Police and Cameco employees. All funds raised from the game will support Northumberland Hills Hospital Community Mental Health Services.

“Mental Health does not just affect first responders, it affects our own families and people in our communities each and every day,” said Port Hope Police sergeant, Nathan Clarke. “And we’re thrilled to partner with Cameco to bring this important fundraiser to our community. The funds we raise will go towards making a positive impact to local mental health initiatives.”

“We are grateful and honoured to be selected as the beneficiary of this event,” said Jennifer Cox, integrated director, mental health, community programs and services, Northumberland Hills Hospital Community Mental Health Services. “Funds raised from this event will elevate our capacity to provide mental health treatment and support services to vulnerable individuals in our community. We admire the willingness to recognize and highlight the importance of mental health; we have the privilege of providing hope to people in our community who are experiencing their worst days. Our Police partners are a highly valued part of our work; we thank everyone involved in organizing the Toronto Maple Leafs Alumni game for our community.”

“At Cameco we recognize that funding for mental health services is essential to helping improve access and support for those who need it,” said Dale Clark, vice president, Cameco Fuel Services Division. “We are proud to partner with the police to bring this fundraiser to Cobourg and to be part of a community-based effort to help make a difference for a cause that touches us all.”
