Video – Photo Gallery – Fog, Sails and Summer Activity Fill Cobourg’s Waterfront

In Local, Photo Gallery, Weather

There was no shortage of activity along Cobourg’s lakeshore on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, as residents and visitors took advantage of a warm summer evening.

Out on Lake Ontario, sailors took part in the weekly Wednesday evening sailboat races. With dense, low-lying fog drifting across the water, many of the sailboats appeared as ghostly silhouettes, their sails emerging through the mist like shark fins cutting through the lake.

Closer to shore, crews in the Cobourg Harbour basin were hard at work preparing for the season, practicing in their dragon boats as spectators watched from the waterfront.

Adding to the maritime atmosphere, the training vessel St. Lawrence II was tied up in Cobourg Harbour for the day. The tall ship is expected to depart and head onto Lake Ontario around noon on Thursday.

Meanwhile, on Victoria Beach, volleyball players made the most of the pleasant weather, enjoying a picturesque evening along the shoreline as the sun began to set behind the fog-covered lake.

From racing sailboats and dragon boat practices to beach volleyball and visiting tall ships, Cobourg’s waterfront provided a perfect snapshot of summer along Lake Ontario.
