In Local

A quick response by neighbours and emergency crews helped prevent serious damage following a small apartment fire in Cobourg on Sunday morning.

At approximately 9:19 a.m. on April 26, 2026, Cobourg Fire Department was dispatched to Park Lane after a neighbour reported seeing smoke coming from an apartment unit.

Firefighters arrived on scene and entered the apartment wearing breathing apparatus, where they discovered a small fire on the stove. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the flames before they could spread, limiting damage to the unit.

Following the fire, the apartment was ventilated to remove smoke. Two occupants were assessed by paramedics for possible smoke inhalation, but no serious injuries were reported.
