Video – MNRF Patrols Ganaraska River, Issues Warnings and Seizes Fish

In Local

Port Hope – On Sunday, March 22, 2026, officers from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry conducted patrols along the Ganaraska River, enforcing fishing regulations.

During the patrol, several offences were observed, including fishing in a closed area and fishing without a licence. Two rainbow trout were seized by officers, and additional warnings were issued to anglers for not having a licence or fishing in prohibited zones.

The MNRF reminded the public that fishing along the Ganaraska River is only permitted south of the CN railway bridge. Anglers are prohibited from fishing underneath the bridge, and compliance with licensing rules is mandatory.

Officers encouraged all river visitors to follow the regulations to ensure the protection of fish populations and the safety of the river environment.
