Impacts of the sharp rise in energy prices following the recent war in Iran will be the subject of a report to Northumberland County council.

Deputy Warden Mandy Martin asked that it be explored.

“I’m wondering if we can have some sort of update in terms of our budget and if it is affecting our operations,” Martin requested.

“Gas and propane and fuel and so on – how much of a hit are we going to take? Should we be planning for this?”

Director of Public Works Denise Marshall agreed.

“Our budget provides allowances for adjustments year over year, as we do see quite a fluctuation of gas, utilities and propane,” Marshall said.

“But it’s something we can look at and bring back.”
