Sunshine, colourful autumn leaves and stunning sunsets made for two memorable fall days across Northumberland County on Sunday, October 18, and Monday, October 19, 2026.
After the changing weather that comes with an Ontario autumn, the two days offered a welcome opportunity to get outside and enjoy the beauty of the season.
Whether travelling along a country road as colourful leaves drifted from the trees or spending a quiet evening along the Lake Ontario shoreline, there was plenty to appreciate about living in Northumberland County.
On Monday evening, the Cobourg lakeshore was alive with activity as residents took advantage of the sunshine and mild fall conditions.
Some walked their dogs along the waterfront, others went for a jog or rode their bicycles, while many simply strolled along the shoreline or stopped to enjoy the company of family and friends.
Along Cobourg’s east pier, people gathered to take in the peaceful surroundings as the sun slowly descended towards the western horizon, casting its warm glow across Lake Ontario.
The combination of blue skies, autumn colours and the changing light over the water served as a reminder that some of the best moments are often the simplest ones.
There was no special event to attend and no elaborate plans required. It was simply a chance to step outside, breathe in the fresh autumn air and enjoy what the community has to offer.
As the days grow shorter and the colder weather approaches, these are the moments worth remembering.
Sometimes, all it takes is a little sunshine to remind us how fortunate we are to call Canada — and Northumberland County — home.
