YMCA Northumberland and Highland Shores Children’s Aid Announce New Space-Sharing Partnership

In Community, Local

YMCA Northumberland and Highland Shores Children’s Aid are pleased to announce a new space-sharing partnership that reflects a united commitment to collaboration and community service.

In response to the continued growth of YMCA Northumberland’s Children’s Services team, the YMCA has expanded into additional office space within the Highland Shores Children’s Aid’s location at 1005
Burnham Street in Cobourg. This YMCA team supports families across Northumberland County through
25 licensed childcare centres.

The new office arrangement allows both organizations to operate independently within their own dedicated workspaces while sharing common areas, including a kitchen. This thoughtful approach
enhances operational efficiencies while also fostering opportunities for connection and relationship building between teams.

Senior leadership and staff from both organizations gathered this week to mark the partnership at a Meet
& Greet Event held within the shared space.

“After much collaborative effort to bring this arrangement together, everyone is pleased to begin this new
chapter,” said Eunice Kirkpatrick, President & CEO, YMCA Northumberland. “Beyond the opportunity
to have more space, we are also very excited about the positive impact strengthening our relationships
will have for our community.”

“Co-locating with trusted community partners like the YMCA reflects our shared commitment to children, families, and community well-being”, says Jess Uddenberg, Executive Director, Highland Shores Children’s Aid. “By working side-by-side under one roof, we strengthen collaboration, reduce barriers to support, and create a more seamless experience for the families we serve.”

While each organization maintains a distinct mandate, YMCA Northumberland and Highland Shores
Children’s Aid are united by a common focus on supporting children, families, and overall community
wellbeing.

This partnership demonstrates how organizations can work together in practical and meaningful ways to
maximize resources, strengthen services, and better serve the community they both care deeply about.
