Northumberland OPP – Investigating Reported Threat at Secondary School in Brighton

Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a reported threat involving a local secondary school.

On February 12, 2026, shortly before 9:00 a.m., officers received information regarding a potential threat to the safety of the school.

Police have confirmed that the individual associated with the report was not present at the school, and a hold and secure was not required. Northumberland OPP advises that there is no immediate risk to the safety of students or staff.

The person involved has been identified, and the OPP Crime Unit has been engaged to assist with the ongoing investigation.

The investigation remains ongoing, and updates will be provided as they become available. No additional information can be released at this time.
