Emergency services couldn’t believe the driver of a pickup truck walked away virtually uninjured from a collision in Hamilton Township on Saturday, November 8, 2025.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. emergency services responded to the area of Division Street North just west of County Road 45, north of Highway 401.

A vehicle heading west of Division Street North failed to negotiate a turn, took out a hydro pole, went through a group of trees, became airborne and went down an embankment striking numerous other trees.

The vehicle came to rest on its side and hotel worker in the area of Knights Inn.

Courtney Day was cleaning rooms and witnessed the collision.

Day said she heard the sound of the vehicle and witnessed it as it disappeared into a group of trees.

After yelling at a person to call 9-1-1, Day and another woman ran to see what they could do to help.

“I went running down and yelled and yelled getting my way through all the brush.”

Day said the lone occupant wasn’t trapped by the vehicle, but was trapped because of the amount of brush around the vehicle.

Because the vehicle was on its side the lone occupant had trouble climbing out because of the weight of the door.

Day helped keep the door open while the driver exited the vehicle.

To her amazement he walked away apparently unhurt.

“He climbed right out. I kept telling him, “Sir, please have a seat.”

The driver kept saying the he was unhurt, but the vehicle was so badly damaged and buried it debris it was hard to make out what type of vehicle it was.

With the ride the driver took through the trees and down the embankment, Day said she’s sure he’ll be sore tomorrow.

Tow operators had to cut down a number of trees to remove the pickup truck which took approximately two-hours.

The driver was taken to hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries.

The investigation is continuing.
