October 21st, 2026 Campbellford Memorial Hospital (CMH) is celebrating national recognition after being ranked fourth among 177 Canadian hospitals in a recent analysis of more than 135,000 reviews.
The analysis, conducted by digital marketing firm SEO Backlinks, examined Google ratings for hospitals across Canada, placing CMH among the country’s highest-rated hospitals based on reviews shared by patients, families and visitors.
While hospital rankings often focus on clinical performance indicators, financial measures and other technical benchmarks, this analysis offers a different perspective: how people feel about their experiences receiving care.
“This is wonderful recognition for our entire team, and what makes it particularly meaningful is that it comes directly from the people we serve,” said Jeff Hohenkerk, President and CEO of Campbellford Memorial Hospital. “We talk a lot about the importance of providing compassionate, patient-centred care, but ultimately, it’s our patients and families who can tell us how we’re doing. To see CMH recognized among the highest-rated hospitals in Canada based on patient feedback is something our entire organization can be proud of.”
According to the analysis, CMH received an average Google rating of 3.63 out of five stars, based on 219 reviews, placing it fourth nationally and second among hospitals in Ontario.
The report acknowledged that Google reviews are not a scientific measure of healthcare performance. However, they do provide valuable insight into the experiences and perceptions of patients and families, including the interactions, communication and compassion that help shape how people feel about their care.
“At its heart, healthcare is about people caring for people,” continued Hohenkerk.
“Patients come to the hospital during what can often be some of the most difficult and vulnerable moments of their lives. A kind word, a reassuring conversation, taking the time to listen, or simply treating someone with dignity and respect can have a lasting impact. Those experiences matter, and they are an important part of what defines quality care.”
The recognition comes as CMH continues planning for a new hospital and integrated Campus of Care, with a focus on strengthening access to healthcare services while preserving the compassionate, community-focused approach that has long been central to the hospital’s identity.
Hohenkerk emphasized that the ranking is a reflection of the dedication of staff, physicians and volunteers across the organization, whose contributions collectively shape the patient experience.
“Every member of our team plays a role in the care our patients receive and the experiences they have at CMH,” said Hohenkerk. “We’re incredibly grateful to our patients and their families who have taken the time to share their experiences, and especially proud of the people who come to work every day committed to making a difference in the lives of others.”
