Video – Culvert Installation Goes Smoothly in Cobourg

In Local, Photo Gallery

It certainly appeared worked progressed much faster than anticipated installing the northern half of the new culvert on King Street West in Cobourg on Thursday, September 11, 2025.

A notice was given to residents of the Pebble Beach area earlier this week advising there would be vehicle restrictions and intermittent electricity shut off due to the installation of the north half of the culvert on King Street West, just west of Burnham Street.

The notice said road and electricity would be effected from

8pm Thursday Sept 11th – 6am Friday Sept 12th

8pm Friday Sept 12th – 6am Saturday Sept 13th

By approximately 12:30 a.m., three of the four pieces of culvert weighing 61,000 pounds each were installed.

One worker said the process was going much faster than anticipated.

The road closure is scheduled for Friday night as well, but given the installment of the four sections it may not be necessary – but that hasn’t been confirmed.

There will be a second stage required for the culvert replacement on the southern side of King Street West in a few weeks’ time. Another notice will be provided with details prior to the second stage of work being completed.
