In City Hall

Cobourg council offered congratulations at its March meeting to two businesses achieving landmarks.

To celebrate their quarter-century downtown, All Creatures Great and Small owners Theresa Rickerby and Heather Glennie appeared in person to accept their congratulations.

It was something of a homecoming to Rickerby, who served briefly on council between 2014 and 2016.

The store has thrived at its 30 King St. location for 25 years, Deputy Mayor Nicole Beatty. In this day and age, she declared, “that’s pretty spectacular and quite special.”

Rickerby and Glennie advanced into the council horseshoe to accept congratulations from Mayor Lucas Cleveland – accompanied by a four-legged friend on a leash, who sat obligingly for photos.

Earlier, Cleveland mentioned that he had appeared in person at JJ’s Steak and Burgers at 8 Elgin St. E. to make a presentation in honour of their 40th anniversary.

He visited the “quick-service-style bistro” during a busy lunch rush, and was impressed to see that the owners knew virtually every customer on the premises.
