Belleville Police Service – Incidents Include Domestic Assault, Refuse To Provide Breath Sample, Impaired Charge (Names Released)

Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 103 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on March 26, 2025 to 5:00 am on March 27, 2025.

Domestic Assault
On 26 March, 2025, at 11:55am, police attended an address in the west end regarding a domestic assault. Upon arrival, police spoke to both parties. A male reported being struck numerous times by a female. As a result, a 24 year-old Belleville female was arrested and charged with domestic assault. She was released on an undertaking with a court date in April.

Refusal to provide sample
On 26 March, 2025, at 10:30pm, police received a call about a suspicious vehicle at Zwicks Park. Police located the vehicle and spoke to the driver. Police detected an odour of an alcoholic beverage on the driver’s breath. As a result, the driver was given the breath demand. The male refused to provide a sample, and he was arrested for refusing to provide a breath sample. Ryan James Quart, 46, of Belleville was charged and later released with a 24 April, 2025 court date.

Impaired driving charge
On 27 March, 2025, at 3:30am, Belleville Police were called to McFee Street regarding a vehicle that had struck and mounted a large rock at the end of the street making the vehicle undrivable. Officers arrived on scene and determined that the lone occupant of the vehicle was not injured; however, further investigation revealed that the driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, and he was arrested. The driver provided samples more than double the legal limit. As a result, 48-year-old James Maas of Marmora was charged with impaired operation and operating with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood. He was released with a May 1st 2025 court date.
