A 14-year-old Peterborough male is facing charges after an incident at Lansdowne Place Wednesday evening.
At approximately 7:30pm on March 5, 2025, officers responded to a call about a disturbance by a large group of teens in the mall. Upon arrival, officers learned that the group started to flee once security arrived. During the incident, the security guards were verbally threatened and then had a hatchet brandished at them. Officers located a male matching the description given to police in a parking lot across street and took him into custody.
As a result of the investigation, a 14-year-old Peterborough male was arrested and charged with:
Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm
Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
Failure to comply with undertaking
The accused is currently bound by an undertaking with the following condition: to not possess any weapons.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court April 14, 2025.
Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) the name of a young person cannot be released.
