Video – Police Investigating After Thousands of Dollars in Damage to New Sidewalk in Port Hope

In Police Blotter

Damage estimates are in the thousands of dollars after numerous people walked on the Walton Street sidewalk that hadn’t finished drying over the weekend in Port Hope.

Port Hope Police were notified around 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2024 of the damage.

It’s unconfirmed if some were by accident, but some were definitely intentional after hand prints were placed in the wet concrete.

As the concrete wasn’t completely dry there are also footprints from John Street to east of Lent’s Lane on the south sidewalk.

The sidewalk may have to be totally replaced at a cost that could reach $20,000.

The new sidewalk is part of the reconstruction of Walton Street.

If anyone has any information or video please call Port Hope Police at 905-885-8123 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
