Infrastructure Ontario has confirmed they are finalizing the sale of the Brookside property in Cobourg.
In a e-mail received on Friday, November 15, 2024, Infrastructure Ontario (IO) has confirmed they are working on the details of the sale and will “continue to manage the encampment site.”
IO did not state who is buying the property but expects the sale to be completed “shortly.”
The e-mail is below.
“Infrastructure Ontario (IO) the government’s realty agent continues to work towards finalizing a sale of the Brookside property in the Town of Cobourg. While the property remains within the government’s general real estate portfolio, IO will continue to manage the encampment at the site as it has since September 2023, by prioritizing health and safety for those in the encampment and the surrounding community.
Part of IO’s role on behalf of the government, is to find new and productive uses for vacant and underutilized properties. Prior to the encampment, IO was following its standard process of due diligence to prepare the Brookside property for sale, given that it is surplus to the needs of the province.
The ministry expects that IO will finalize the sale of the Brookside shortly.”
