Derry Returns to Port Hope – “Greetings from Fairview”

In Local

The area of Mill Street and Walton Street has once again been transformed into Derry, Maine.

Reaper’s Image Productions – the production company that filmed here in Spring 2023 – has returned to Port Hope to film more scenes for the upcoming project, “Greetings from Fairview”.

The filming schedule: filming is scheduled to take place in the downtown core beginning at 7:00 p.m. on March 2, overnight until 5:00 a.m. on March 3.

From parking meters, signs along the road and even fake snow has helped transform the area to Derry, Maine.

The Port Hope Development Team Office has a new sign out front as the Township of Derry Police Department with Chief of Police, Clint Bowers.

A plaque on the Walton Street bridge reads:

CAPITOL THEATER • CITY OF DERRY

RICHARD GREGORY- 1905

This property possesses national significance in commemorating the history of Maine. Built upon the site of the original Capitol Theater, this building was designed by American architect Richard Gregory and constructed in 1905 following the devastating explosion at the Derry Iron Works; an important landmark. Built as a way to bring the people of the town together, it attracted over 800 people to attend the gala celebrating its opening. Today the Capitol Theater stands as a testament to the resilience of the people of Derry who persevered in the aftermath of the ironworks disaster.

It is a reminder of the importance of community and of the power of entertainment to bring people together in difficult times. This plaque is dedicated to the memory of all those who lost their lives in the fire and to the legacy of the theater as a beacon of hope and joy in the town of Derry.

This property has been placed on the National Register of Historic Buildings by the Derry Historical Society.
