It was a record year for the 12th annual Queenies Bake Shop Toy Drive in Port Hope.
With well over 1,000 toys inside his business, Queenies Bake Shop owner, Adam Pearson couldn’t be prouder of the community that has supported him throughout the years.
The toy drive doesn’t start until November 12 and for every toy donated by the community Pearson will match that by purchasing a toy.
“This year was a very good year,” said Pearson.
“Thousands of toys were collected and we couldn’t have done it without the Port Hope community.”
Every kind of toy for toddlers to teenagers is in the store and will be picked up on Monday by representatives from Highland Shores Children’s Aid.
New this year, is a three metre teddy bear.
Last year was a record year for toys, but this year Pearson said he believes there was a 20% increase in toys thanks to the community.
“This community has never disappointed me. For 12 years, every single day, this community supports everyone within and that’s why we are called a community.”
Imagining the children opening up the toys Pearson said, “it makes me feel great and I think that makes the entire community feel great knowing they contributed to a happy Christmas for many kids.”
Pearson also credits and thanks his entire staff for helping and donating their time for the annual event.
