Cobourg Police Service Community Camera Registry Program

In Local

Cobourg residents and businesses can now register CCTV cameras to help improve community safety.

Cobourg Police Service invites residents and business owners to register with the Community Camera Registry Program. The Community Camera Registry Program is a volunteer registry of CCTV cameras and doorbell cams in the Town of Cobourg.

Residents and businesses can register their cameras with CPS so that in the event of an incident, CPS can learn where cameras may be located in a neighbourhood and contact the owner to request footage. This will further expedite post-event footage access, leading to faster response times and more efficient clearance rates.

The Community Camera Registry is a community-driven initiative that helps police quickly locate security cameras that may have captured footage related to a crime. It’s a secure, voluntary program for residents and businesses to list their security cameras. It’s easy to register and residents can delete their information or account anytime.

Here is how it works:
• Register your camera’s location and your contact info — no other details are needed.

• Your information stays private and is only accessible to the police.

• If a crime occurs nearby, the police may contact you to request footage.

• You’re in control — update or remove your details anytime.

Joining the Community Camera Registry is a simple way to contribute to neighbourhood safety and assist police. To learn more and register your camera, visit services.tryrubicon.com/cobourg-police-service/camera-registry.
