A two-vehicle collision took place in Cobourg on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at the intersection of College Street and James Street East.
Cobourg Fire Department was dispatched at 2:12 p.m. along with Cobourg Police and Northumberland County Paramedics.
Cobourg Police were first to arrive followed by Cobourg Fire Department.
There were two vehicles involved in the collision.
After the initial collision, one of the vehicles struck a utility pole.
Cobourg Police investigated the collision and it appears that one vehicle was heading west along James Street East and the other vehicle was heading south on College when the collision occurred.
One driver had facial injuries, the other had chest pains.
At 2:21 p.m. dispatch radioed to firefighters on scene that there were not enough ambulances in the area.
At 2:46 p.m. firefighters once again radioed an estimated time of arrival for paramedics.
At 3:04 p.m. a paramedic supervisor vehicle arrived on scene and at 3:07 p.m. a ambulance arrived on scene.
It was 52-minutes from the time the call was received to the time paramedics arrived on scene.
One person was transported to hospital.
Today’s Northumberland has reached out to Northumberland County regarding the delay.
Water Rescue on Rice Lake
Shortly before 5 p.m. emergency services were dispatched to Rice Lake near Bewdley where a passenger of a personal watercraft fell off.
Emergency crews including Northumberland OPP, Hamilton Township Fire Department and Northumberland County Paramedics responded to the scene.
Hamilton Township Fire Department launched their rescue boat, but other people on PWC transported the passenger to an address on Bamsey Drive where they were taken to hospital.
Two-Vehicle Collision in Port Hope
At approximately 5:18 p.m. emergency services were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision in Port Hope.
Two vehicles collided in what was described as a “high velocity” collision at the enter Cavan and Jocelyn Street.
Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services, Port Hope Police and Northumberland County Paramedics responded to the scene.
One person was taken to hospital.
