Durham Regional Police – Male Arrested with Imitation Firearm at Hospital in Oshawa

A male is facing several charges after making threats with an imitation firearm at a hospital in Oshawa.

On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at approximately 8:35 p.m., members of Central East Division responded to an armed person call at Lakeridge Health Oshawa located at 1 Hospital Court. Two males were involved in a verbal altercation outside of the emergency department entrance, when one of the males brandished a firearm and made threats. The suspect then fled into the hospital. Officers arrived on scene and searched the hospital. The suspect was located a short time later and taken into custody without incident. A search of the suspect revealed an imitation firearm in his possession.

No persons suffered any physical injuries.

The accused was already bound by a weapons prohibition at the time of his arrest.

Lorne Fredrick MCCONNELL, age 46 from Oshawa is charged with: Assault with a Weapon, Possess Weapons Dangerous, Fail to Comply with Release Order, Fail to Comply with Probation Order x2.

He was held for a bail hearing.
