Town of Cobourg and YMCA Announce March Break Camp Partnership

Campers to enjoy activities at both facilities
The Town of Cobourg and YMCA Northumberland are pleased to announce a new partnership for this year’s March Break camps, expanding recreational opportunities for local families.

Through this collaboration, children registered in March Break camps at either location will have the opportunity to visit and participate in activities at the other facility. Campers at the Cobourg Community Centre (CCC) will enjoy time at the YMCA, including aquatic activities, while YMCA campers will visit the CCC for skating activities.

“We are excited to enhance our March Break camp experience through this partnership,” said Lacricia Turner, Director of Community Services for the Town of Cobourg. “This collaboration allows campers to enjoy a wider variety of activities while experiencing both facilities.”

“We’re thrilled to partner with the Town of Cobourg to expand March Break camp opportunities for local children,” added Eunice Kirkpatrick, President & CEO, YMCA Northumberland. “By sharing facilities, we are giving kids more ways to stay active, creating richer camp programs and demonstrating that we are truly greater working together.”

This initiative reflects an ongoing collaboration between the Town of Cobourg and YMCA Northumberland. In 2024, the Municipality and the YMCA entered a Memorandum of Understanding exploring a potential partnership to develop a recreation centre in Cobourg that would serve the recreational needs of residents in Cobourg and Northumberland County.

The plan for the new recreation centre is to provide expanded facilities that align with a YMCA operation, including an aquatic centre, conditioning and fitness areas, multi-purpose space and change rooms. The proposed multifunctional, state-of-the-art recreation facility would be located on the northern portion of the Cobourg Community Centre campus and support the Town’s strategic planning goals and future growth.
