Cobourg Police – Incidents Include – Cobourg Man Charged After Police Observe Open Drug Use, Damage to Bus Shelter (No Names Released)

A 50-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges after police on patrol observed open drug use.

On December 16, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., police on a downtown foot patrol observed an individual openly using controlled substances inside a business vestibule in the area of King Street and George Street in Cobourg. As a result of the police investigation, a 50-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance, failure to comply with probation, and failure to attend court. The accused was released on an undertaking with a future court.

The Cobourg Police Service notes that since December 2024, the accused has been arrested nine times with nine criminal charges. In total, police have had 67 interactions with the accused in the past year.


A 42-year-old Quinte West man is facing charges after damaging bus shelter.

On December 16, 2025, at approximately 10:20 a.m., police on general patrol in the area of Strathy Road, in Cobourg, observed a man kicking a bus shelter, causing damage.

As a result, the 42-year-old Quinte West man was arrested and charged with mischief and two counts of failing to comply with probation. The accused was held for a bail hearing and was subsequently remanded into custody.
