Municipality of Port Hope Welcomes New Solicitor

The Municipality of Port Hope is thrilled to announce the arrival of our dynamic new Municipal Solicitor and Director of Legal and Legislative Services, Mr. Lee Parkin. His appointment marks a new era in our commitment to excellence and innovation in municipal governance.

Port Hope is on the brink of a monumental transformation with the potential development of the world’s largest nuclear power plant. This ambitious project will be a cornerstone of our evolution into “Port Hope 2.0,” symbolizing our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and economic growth.

Lee Parkin, a member of the Law Society of Ontario and a graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School, brings a wealth of experience and academic achievement. Not only does he hold a law degree, but he also boasts a Master’s degree in Music Composition from the University of Toronto—a testament to his diverse talents.

Over the past decade, Lee has carved a notable path in municipal government. His achievements include:

• Leading roles as Municipal Clerk and Solicitor, guiding teams of clerks, lawyers, and legal professionals.

• Expertise in drafting and negotiating multi-million-dollar infrastructure and procurement agreements.

• Collaborations with developer groups on pivotal growth and community initiatives.

• Extensive work in planning appeals and agreements with provincial ministries and agencies.

• Experience working with First Nations communities on infrastructure project agreements.

In his new role, Lee will lead Legal Services, Clerks Services, Municipal Law Enforcement, Real Estate, Risk Management, and Human Resources, playing a pivotal role in the legal frameworks and negotiations surrounding Port Hope’s transformative projects.
