Habitat for Humanity Northumberland Launches “Home for the Holidays” campaign with $15,000 matching gift opportunity

Habitat for Humanity Northumberland is excited to announce the launch of their Home for the
Holidays matching gift campaign, inviting the community to help finish two homes for local families, and thanks to generous donation, every gift will be doubled up to $15,000!

The organization has officially launched its Home for the Holidays campaign, with a goal to raise $30,000 by December 31st to complete two single detached homes in Cobourg and Brighton. These homes will provide safe, affordable housing for 9 individuals, just in time for the New Year.

Thanks to two generous local businesses – Part Time CFO Services and Stadtke Plumbing & Heating – all donations will be matched dollar for dollar up to $15,000, doubling the impact of every gift made during the campaign period.

With the rising costs of building housing, the need for affordable housing in our community has never been greater. Affordable home ownership helps build strength, stability and independence for local families.

“This is our biggest year ever in terms of the number of people we’ve been able to house,” said Cathy
Borrowec, CEO of Habitat for Humanity Northumberland. “With these final two homes, we’ll have housed over 30 individuals in 2025 alone – and we need the community’s help to get us across the finish line.”

The campaign highlights the final materials needed to complete the homes, including drywall, interior doors, lighting and paint. Donors are invited to give online or in person at the ReStore. Due to the mail strike, they recommend not putting anything in the mail and instead bringing it in person to the Restore or call the office.

A donation shopping list is also available online for those that would like to support a specific item.

“We’re asking people to give a gift – and double its impact,” said Aimee Tedford, Director of Business
Operations. “Every dollar helps us move closer to handing over the keys and welcoming two families Home for the Holidays.”
