City of Kawartha Lakes OPP – Local School Reported Kidnapping Immediately

Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a possible child abduction in Verulam Township from a primary school.

On Friday October 17, 2025 at approximately 11:37 am, officers were notified of a possible child abduction with a primary school aged child from the school playground during recess. Social media was utilized to broadcast the involved motor vehicle and it was located in the Region of Durham where the child was found safe and the accused part ies were arrested and charged. This is an isolated incident.

Two accused parties are being held for a Bail Hearing with the Ontario Court of Justice.
