Port Hope Police – Incidents Include Missing Persons Located, Port Hope Man Charged with Mischief

Missing Persons Safely Located
On October 3, 2025, Port Hope Police received a report of a missing person who had not returned home after going for a walk earlier in the afternoon.

Police conducted an extensive search of the area with assistance from the Ontario Civil Emergency Assistance Program (OCEAP), the Durham Regional Police Service K9 Unit, Air1 aerial support, Ontario Provincial Police uniformed officers, and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC). Later that evening, the individual was safely located and medically assessed as a precaution.

On October 6, 2025, a second person went missing from a long-term care facility in Port Hope.

Thankfully, this individual was located a short time later, and no emergency response was required.

Port Hope Police thank all agencies and community members who assisted in these searches.

Port Hope Man Charged with Mischief
On October 7, 2025, Port Hope Police were dispatched to an apartment building for a report of mischief.
Police were advised that a male had damaged and removed a security camera from the building. Officers attended and, after conducting a well-being check, located the individual inside a unit. The male was arrested without incident and found to be intoxicated.

He was charged with Mischief Under $5,000. The individual was later released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
