Durham Police – Victim in Life Threatening Condition After Unprovoked Assault in Oshawa

A male is in custody after an assault in Oshawa that left the victim in life-threatening condition.

On Monday, October 6, 2025, at approximately 5:40 p.m., members from Central East Division responded to an assault in progress call in the area of Ritson Road North and Taunton Road East.

Officers attended and located a male victim suffering from obvious signs of trauma.

Witnesses provided information that the victim was crossing the street when the suspect approached him from behind and began assaulting him in what appeared to be an unprovoked attack. The victim and accused are not known to one another.

The victim was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre and is currently in life-threatening condition. The male suspect was located nearby and arrested without incident.

Dwayne WALLEN, age 33, of Oshawa is charged with: Aggravated Assault.

He was held for a bail hearing.
