One Driver and Company Issued 21 Tickets – License Plates were Removed from Both Vehicle and Trailer


A joint services commercial motor vehicle inspection was held at the MTO yards in Grafton, just south of Highway 401 on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.

MTO Inspectors, with the assistance of Northumberland OPP, Highway Safety Division Whitby OPP, East Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team from Quinte West OPP and Port Hope Police pulled a number of commercial motor vehicles into the MTO yards for an inspection.

A number of Commercial Motor Vehicle Inspectors from both the MTO and OPP were on hand taking part inspecting vehicles.

At least 31 vehicles were inspected, 25 violations found (defective brakes, improper licence, load security, expired plates, overweight vehicle, leaking wheel seal). 41 charges issued. 4 vehicles placed Out of Service, 4 plate removals.

Some vehicles passed with flying colours – others not so much.

OPP issued one company and driver 21 tickets and the plates were removed from both the vehicle and trailer.

Commercial Motor Vehicle safety and enforcement are integral components of the OPP’s Provincial Traffic Safety Strategy.

All drivers share the responsibility of keeping roads safe, especially when travelling alongside large commercial vehicles.

Aggressive and careless driving behaviours such as speeding, unsafe lane changes, and tailgating remain leading causes of CMV-related collisions each year.
