Video – Photo Gallery – Annual Poker Run Takes Over Rice Lake

The 35th annual Bruce Nicolle Rice Lake Memorial Poker Run in support of Make-A-Wish Canada was held on Saturday, September 20, 2025.

Approximately 30 high performance boats took part in the annual event starting from Golden Beach Cottages and hitting a number of number of stops along Rice Lake before heading up the Otonabee River and then back to Golden Beach Cottages to finish the day.

The boats will make stops at checkpoints at Bewdley, Elmhirst’s Resort, lunch stop in Hastings, Gores Landing and Willow Bend Marina on the Otonabee River.

The Performance Boat Cub of Canada has been a proud supporter of Make a Wish Canada for more than 33 years. Since 2008 PBCE has raised over $297,000 for the cause.

Currently, Make-A-Wish has 4-thousand critically ill children waiting for their wishes to be granted.

The owner of one high performance boat told Today’s Northumberland that his boat went t through 400 litres of fuel for the day.

Another said they hit 100 miles per hour traveling along Rice Lake.

Along areas of the route spectators watched as the thunder of the boats could be heard in the distance and in a blink of an eye had gone past.
