Cobourg Police – Incidents Include Impaired, Robbery, Stunt Driving (No Names Released)

Impaired Charge

A Brampton man is facing impaired charges after police investigated on Sunday morning.

On Sunday, September 7, 2025, at approximately 12:30 a.m., police were advised of a possible impaired driver. Police located the vehicle in question in the parking lot of a business on Division Street in Cobourg.

As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old Brampton man was arrested and charged with operation while impaired (alcohol), operation while impaired-blood concentration over 80mg.

The accused was released on an undertaking with a future court date on September 24, 2025.

 

Cobourg Man Facing Robbery Charges

A 35-year-old Cobourg man is facing robbery charges after police received reports of purse theft on Sunday.

On Sunday, September 7, 2025, at approximately 1:50 p.m., police received numerous 911 calls for a report of a man attempting to steal a woman’s bag in the downtown area. Officers spoke with the victim, who identified the suspect as an ex-partner.

Police located and arrested the suspect. During the arrest, officers located a prohibited knife on him.

As a result of the police investigation, a 35-year-old Cobourg man was charged with Robbery with Violence, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.

The accused was released on an undertaking with a court date of September 24, 2025.

 

Stunt Driving Charge

Cobourg Police Service charged a 38-year-old Oshawa man with stunt driving in Cobourg.

On Sunday, September 7, 2025, at approximately 11:15 p.m., police observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on William Street in the Town of Cobourg. The vehicle was allegedly travelling at 119km/hr in a 50km/hr zone. Police conducted a traffic stop, and the driver, a 38-year-old Oshawa man, was issued two Part 3 Summons for stunt driving and failing to stop. The driver’s license was suspended for 30 days, and their vehicle was seized for 14 days.
