Video – Cobourg Police – Cobourg Man Charged with Assault After Person Pepper Sprayed (No Name Released)

A 36-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges after police responded to a report of assault on Monday.

On August 25, 2025, at approximately 11:20 a.m., police responded to the area of 1st Street and Albert Street in Cobourg after receiving a report of an individual having been sprayed with pepper spray. Police located the victim and observed injuries consistent with those of someone exposed to a noxious substance. The identity of the suspect was provided, and police began a canvass for the male.

As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, administering a noxious thing, and three counts of failing to comply with probation. The accused was held for bail and subsequently remanded into custody.

(Cobourg Police have still not given any other information on incidents involving bear spray/pepper spray in the last several days where people have been taken to hospital)
