Video – Pebble Beach Residents Without Water After Water Main Break in Cobourg

Approximately 80 homes in the area of Pebble Beach in Cobourg’s west end have been without water since approximately noon following a water main break on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

At approximately noon Lakefront Utilities was notified of a water main break on King Street West at where construction is taking place at a culvert replacement.

King Street West in the area of the construction has been down to one lane since approximately June 16 when the nearly $2 million project was started.

The King Street west culvert was constructed in the 1970’s and was in poor condition. The replacement which will take approximately four-months will support a widened road platform to accommodate future bike lanes, and future sidewalk.

A culvert is a pipe structure that carries storm water, typically under a roadway or other obstacle.

There are approximately 80-homes without water currently.

Repairs are expected to be completed between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Emergency services including Cobourg Fire Department have been notified of the situation.

Crews are currently responding to a water main break in the Pebble Beach area. Some residents may experience no water service, while others may notice low water pressure.

Residents may notice cloudy or discoloured water once service is restored—this is temporary and can be cleared by running cold water from a lower-level tap.

There are appears to be no pedestrian access states numerous signs at the area of construction.  Only vehicles are allowed through the area.
